The advantages of GPS enhanced fishfinders
In the old days, fishfinders working by themselves used to be able to
tell fishermen where the fish were, but that was about it. This is well
and good if all you want to do is find the fish, but what happens when
you want to co-ordinate operations. In such cases, a system that
combines the technology behind fishfinders and GPS can prove to be very
useful indeed.
The fishfinders themselves have been evolving along with every step
along the path that computers take towards becoming sentient. Their
built in intelligence has increased with every advance in prediction
technology, coupled with advanced imaging and, of course, the natural
increase in speed which computers are undergoing has meant that the data
can be assessed much faster and with greater accuracy.
While looking for fish is a great innovation, manufacturers if
fishfinders don’t stop there, since it is also now possible to obtain
them with built in GPS. Not only can you find your fish, and know where
you are, but having a GPS system also means that you can tell other
people where the fish are too.
From the point of view of commercial fishermen, adding GPS to
fishfinders means that they can enjoy an increased productivity –
essentially fishing in packs to get the most out of each school that
they come across.
Recreational fishermen will also find that their fishfinders become even
more useful when GPS is added to them as it enables them to note exactly
where they found fish last time, so that they may return in the future.
