Save a waypoint, find your prey – hunting
made easy with the GPS!
Some of us have used GPS systems in our cars, on the dashboard or in the
glove compartment to store information like a waypoint or map and to
give direction. The GPS system is a satellite navigation system that
provides positioning and clock time to the terrestrial user. A GPS
system makes knowing your exact location, altitude and topography as
simple as a button press. These can be used for hunting, hiking or
storing a waypoint for treks and walks.
GPS navigation can make the difference between successful hunting and
wandering aimlessly around in the woods. With the help of an accurate
GPS system designed for hunting, you can easily mark the location of
your deer blind. Or find your way back to that great duck-hunting spot
using the waypoint and tracks you had saved a few days ago.
If you are going on a trek or hike, a GPS can be used as a planning and
analysis tool too. You can use your GPS with topographical maps to make
your scouting time more efficient. If you look on a map and notice
possible deer funnel areas where ridges come together or a creek or
river abuts a bluff you can mark the latitude and longitude as a
waypoint and so you can find the spot quickly.
In the outdoors, you may have a difficult time remembering all the
places where you find buck scrapes, feeds, and beds. When you go hunting
the next time, build a database with a GPS receiver by making a waypoint
for each, and naming them with a code you can understand. For example,
"S" for scrapes, "R" for rubs and "T" for tracks. Utilize the amazing
technology of this sophisticated system to make your next outdoor
hunting trip simple and fun!
