USB GPS
USB GPS for fast transfer of data!
One of the wonders of modern computer technology is the ability to
connect devices together in a way which enables the fast transfer of
large amounts of data, and it is for this purpose that the USB GPS was
invented. The advantage of the USB GPS is that it can connect to almost
any system and you can then transfer data in a way which allows whole
maps to be uploaded before a journey into the unknown. This is great for
maritime as well as hiking applications.
In the old days, a GPS system had to get its data from a CD drive. This
was fine as long as the device was in a car or other vehicle, because
they already had built in CD drives. But a portable device is a
different proposition and so the advent of USB GPS systems has meant
that they can have the data downloaded onto them, thus removing the need
for a portable CD drive or other mobile device.
Of course, the USB GPS is probably not going to be the last word in
connectivity options, since we now have ultra fast fire wire connections
which are now entering the market. On the other hand, with USB already
established and moving up into the same bye transfer rate as these newer
technologies it is clear that it is going to be here to stay.
This is not the only advantage that the USB GPS has over other
technologies, because data can also flow back to the PC too, giving a
good way to keep a permanent record of your achievements.
