Garmin eTrex GPS
Enter the Garmin eTrex GPS – small size, big
features
The range of Garmin eTrex GPS handheld navigational instruments offer
functionality which puts them in clear contention with bigger, more
expensive models. While they may have a screen which is less colorful,
smaller, and more compact in terms of information display, the Garmin
eTrex GPS series makes up for the small size by incorporating user
friendly features designed to minimize interaction with the screen.
Starting with systems giving heading and waypoint navigation, the Garmin
eTrex GPS range contains models which will suit every budget, and every
application. At the high end, there are special models which are
compatible with the Garmin MapSource CD-ROM series and can be connected
to a PC to allow the transfer of mapping information to the device.
Each of the Garmin eTrex GPS units can deal with at least 500 waypoints,
and come with a unique navigational feature known as TracBack which
reverses the logged journey so that you can find your way home, even in
the dark! This is also helped by the 4 level backlit display which all
models in the range sport.
Selected models also benefit from Wide Area Augmentation System
compatibility, allowing them to provide navigational data that is
accurate to within an incredible 3 meters, where the service is
available. Those Garmin eTrex GPS systems which come with this feature
are also available with a variety of preloaded highway or maritime base
maps.
The higher range of Garmin eTrex GPS units also boast interactive
features such as calendars, and celestial information. All are
waterproof and weigh less than six ounces.
