tracking device
The GPS enhanced tracking device is economic
and gives great results
The wonderful thing about having detailed location information is that
you can use it in conjunction with other technologies to create a great
tracking device. By itself, it would not be possible for a device that
is small enough, and cheap enough, to be installed in a wide user base,
or as a consumer product, but the secret to creating an economic
tracking device is to adopt a split processing approach.
In fact, the key is to ensure that the GPS location information is only
transmitted back to a central site for processing, and that the unit
itself does very little beyond just sending that information in. To call
it a tracking device is in fact not quite correct since all the tracking
is done elsewhere, which enables the manufacturer to keep the cost of
producing the GPS portion to a minimum.
They can then take advantage of computer power to triangulate the
location of the tracking device and then put it on a map, so that the
information can be shared with a third party. And that third party could
be a parent wanting to know where their child is – in this day and age,
parents always worry when they are not by their side.
It could be a vehicle, stolen or otherwise, fitted with a tracking
device, and being followed by the police, or just in need of some fuel.
Imagine your car knowing, not only that it was running low on gas, but
that it also knew where the nearest gas station might be.
