GPS for laptops: a cheap way to add navigation

In the whole debate over the best way to obtain portable GPS navigation systems, GPS for laptops occasionally surfaces as a possibility which can be used in very special cases. In fact the portability issues are often exaggerated in favor of persuading potential buyers to go with a traditional handheld or vehicular system rather than trying to obtain a GPS for laptops solution.

In fact, the GPS for laptops debate centers around the fact that it is a very cheap way to add GPS navigation functionality to a computer system. On the other hand, the GPS for laptops solution is only really applicable in cases where the laptop is portable enough to carry around – this means that unless the machine is really light, it will only be appropriate for use as a vehicle based solution and not a handheld one.

For those who want the convenience the GPS for laptops solution, but without the laptop, then the best option is to go for a PDA based system, which offers increased mobility at the expense of a smaller screen and lesser multimedia possibilities.
