GPS vehicle tracking
The valuable applications of GPS vehicle
tracking
In the good old days of James Bond films, it was the work of a moment to
place a GPS device on a car, and then track it from a safe distance.
While the system did exist for tailing a vehicle in this way, they were
by no means as sophisticated as today’s GPS vehicle tracking solutions.
Part of the solution lies in the network of GPS satellites which
encircle the earth, but the clever technology that GPS vehicle tracking
systems use also plays a large part, as does good old radio technology.
It would be cost prohibitive to put a full GPS vehicle tracking system
on each and every vehicle that enters the market, and so most systems
providers have stuck with a split processing system. The idea is that
the GPS system on the car receives the signal, and then transmits the
result to e central point so that they can triangulate the vehicles
position and provide some kind of tracking service to a third party.
That third party might be the police or fire department trying to
coordinate their vehicles which are equipped with GPS vehicle tracking
systems. The central processing center could then put the information
together, throw it onto a map of the area, and thus would allow the
coordination of the various maneuvers right down to less than 3 meters.
On the other hand, fleet management companies can use GPS vehicle
tracking in conjunction with telemetric systems which can tell the
driver that there might be a problem, and he should put in to the
nearest gas station (and direct them to it) where he can resolve it.
